Met up with Butch for lunch today to discuss ideas for planned photo session come the day of the Nashville Meet ‘n Greet. He’s an interesting guy.? Definitely an artistic mind as well as being the person with the most piercings and metal hangin’ off him than anyone else I’ve ever met.? He seems like a cool enough guy, though.
Still haven’t been able to apply my new studio lights to any type of shoot yet, although I did to pass on working with a model who had contacted me via Facebook.? I feel bad about it ’cause I really don’t like to pass on collaborative opportunities, but this lady just ain’t got what it takes.? She doesn’t appear to understand what modeling is. I looked over her portfolio and every image was just not very good.
A lot of people think modeling is looking pretty or sexy for a picture.? It’s not.? Modeling is in the sense of purposeful making of pictures/images is portraying a role in a scene.? The model may or may not be the main subject of that image, but the model’s role is to sell that image (as in make it seem believable or natural) to the viewer.
I’m not interested in trying to manufacture that concept with someone who probably doesn’t understand this.? Given my current focus on my Red Rope1 series or Backstage Project2 with both requiring a strong degree of artistic interpretation I decided against it.? And I’ve really a lot more important things to be doing now than random art projects that don’t really benefit me.? So I gave it a pass.
My downstairs neighbor needed to smoke a bit of weed tonight.? Since it’s pretty dang cold outside I guess he decided it was better to suffer me with the smoke filtering up to my apartment than being outside.? I’ve mentioned it to him before and he knows about it.? I ain’t the kind to call the cops over something like that, but I’m not happy over it.? If this becomes a regular winter matter I’m gonna have to lay down the law on it.
Oh, right!? I baked brownies last night!? And there’s only a third of the pan left today.? What?? It’s a big deal when I really cook anything and I do love brownies so it should come as no surprise.
Angie sent me a play list link of The Newsboys songs on YouTube tonight.? That was cool.? I love my sister and she so inspires me.
