Raw footage – building floats down highway

Natural disasters happen.  Natural disasters happen when we are least prepared.  Natural disasters happen in a way that we don’t expect.  This weekend my city – Nashville, Tennessee metro area – suffered a natural disaster.  Over the period of two days beginning Saturday, May 2 the greater Nashville metropolitan area received a record rainfall which has led to massive flooding throughout the region.  Many of the flooded areas are regions not rated as flood plains.  The Governor has declared a state of emergency.

I’ve been blessed because I live on top of a big hill and no flood waters have taken out my home or my neighborhood.  There’s been only one problem for me.  If you’ll note that video that I linked up above that is a portable school building from a school that is located about 2 miles from my house.  The result of that event knocked out power in a part of my neighborhood – where my home is located.  So I don’t have any power.

That’s the extent of damage or hazard for me.  I’ve called around town and I have a couple of friends who have flooding issues, but fortunately most of them are safe and dry.  I’m so thankful for these blessings.

As I write this post I’m over at a friend’s house whose home hasn’t been impacted by flood waters.  Great blessings that I can say this.

I’ve spent the majority of my evening on the phone and internet with friends and family updating statuses.  I’m writing this blog post to let y’all know that I’m safe.  Praise God for that.

I’ve been watching the news all day to keep up with what’s going on around the area and I’ve seen some amazing things.  Up to 10 lives have been reported lost because of the flood which is astounding considering the extent of the damage and areas affected by the flood.

Please refer to this link for news information on the flood in our area.  Rain decreases, flooding still widespread.

Thank you for your prayers, positive vibes and concern.
