On a mission to locate and resolve old key issues in my home I came across a Foster Grant sunglasses case that my darling niece had given to me as a gift several years ago, but when I opened it to check and see if it would fit my current pair in use I discovered that inside was a favorite pair that I thought was long gone to the great sunglasses hut in the sky.
I love my niece. She is so awesome.
We all can point to horror stories of experiences with pizza (or other food) delivery drivers, but those are the exception rather than the norm. The vast majority of us are just out there striving to do our best to earn a living. We sacrifice our personal vehicles and even risk our lives to bring you food in all types of weather conditions and yet we’re paid (now) even less than the average behind the counter, fast food restaurant worker.
Tell me, did you ever have a Johnny’s Record Shop where you grew up? I bought my first four 8-track tapes there. In hindsight I think a couple of them where bootlegs, but to a boy about to hit seventeen it didn’t matter. I had music to stuff into that 8-track player that I got for Christmas.
I don’t care how good or true the message is. I don’t care who sent it. I don’t care how much I agree with it or how it makes me feel. If anywhere in the message there is a request for me to cut & paste or forward in some way, I’m not going to do it. Why? Because anything worthy of being sent around for the benefit of others stands on its own merit and will get passed along without any cajoling to do so. Special directions to send it along only cheapen the message and dilute the integrity behind it.
The initials for the United States of America begin with an interesting word – us.
The first word in our country’s name is united. So what have we got here? Two words right from the name of our country that refer to a group as one. Two words that don’t stipulate circumstances or qualifications to be. Instead these two words identify only as a common entity.
Well, ain’t that what America is supposed to be about?
