Throughout the course of history whenever those who would be free stood up and demanded their freedom they were met with a belligerent ruling power refusing their supplications with claims of insolence. Quite often violence ensued with bloodshed and loss of lives creating even greater tragedy for the oppressed; however such events were, typically, the ushers for the freedoms that were sought and change would come. In this year of 2009 great change has come to The United States of American, but in the middle eastern country of Iran the seeds of change are just now taking root.

Ayatullah Ali Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and their ruling government appear to be cognizant of historical parallels as they have tried to subdue this uprising by declaring the protests illegal and the election proper and holy. Typical of countries under heavy Islamic rule they have blamed "the west" led by America for meddling and influencing the people of Iran. Unfortunately these admonitions have failed to appease the dissatisfied supporters of candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi who believe the election to be fraudulent as the protests have continued.
